SESSION 'HEADLINES':
  • Development pace is prodding awareness
  • How do we rise above "sloganeering" to real understanding
  • Either or "economy or environment" and polarity thinking - strengthen relationships - collaboration
  • Present "new economic model" - new opportunity - Margo Flood's "metric" strategy
  • New modeling vs. classic economic models
  • Schools/colleges working with associations/business creates new work opportunities
  • Local history uniting with emerging technologies
  • Cross institutions/colleges
  • Languaging for team building
  • Short run vs. long term development strategies measured by how much it saves vs. how much it consumes.
  • Not a bourgeois economy - Green Corps jobs as the connecting point, sharing social, capital by new interaction modes. Hands on skill-building.
  • Community foundation is a catalyst. Use building as the consciousness building strategy.
  • The default economy is currently the "retirement" economy. Use "economics" and climate as in "HUB" for community. "Urban Climate Lab. Credible data. Austin owns its own utility - must rise above old corporate model. Living laboratory.
